Secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA) is an antibody produced by the immune system that helps protect the lining of the digestive tract. It acts as one of the body’s first lines of defence by helping prevent harmful microbes from attaching to the gut lining while supporting a healthy relationship with beneficial bacteria. Abnormal sIgA levels may indicate changes in gut immune function.
